You’re using that straw man argument on the wrong guy. My beef is that the libertarian hasn’t even sought out the Republican nod, nor demonstrated what is wrong with the Republican candidate. He explicitly stated he didn’t seek their endorsement, so why are you saying that the Republicans should get in line to support him?

Frankly, the Republicans compromise their beliefs too often. But where there is a distinction between the Republicans and the Libertarians, I usually side with Republicans:
Abortion (There’s a pro-life streak among philosophical libertarians, but most such libertarians aren’t in the LP.)
Drugs
The Iraq war.
Immigration (As angry as many conservatives are at McCain, the LP is open borders.)
Pornography
Prostitution

Well, let's see... he doesn't cast a reflection in a mirror, so either he's a vampire or he doesn't exist.

Duh.

Well, there’s your problem — half of the items on that list are demands for Big Government.

As of last night there was no Republican candidate.

Obviously you know the difference between Libertarian and libertarian so we won't go there.

I don't agree with open borders. I wouldn't open my house to anyone that wanted to live there, nor do I think that the world should be borderless.

Drugs--I can't see how a true Conservative can support the War on Drugs and what it does to the country. That is not saying that I endorse recreational drug use or drug abuse, but those decisions should be left to the individual, not government. Leave it to the government and someday they'll declare too much nitrogen or carbon dioxide to be toxic pollutants or they'll declare too much oxygen unhealthy to humans and try to regulate it. The Iraqi War should have been a Declaration of War instead of a Resolution of Force and Bush paid the price for his political mistake. Actually we all paid the price for his political mistake. Abortion is ultimately up to the woman. Make all the laws you want, it is still up to the woman. I find it an abomination but also know that A) it is legal; B) I can't prevent any woman at all from getting one. Ultimately that is between her and God and there is nothing anyone can do about that. Pornography and prostitution....same same....activities between consenting adults don't need the government in them. Not all vices are sins and not all sins are vices. Do you really care what your neighbor reads, looks at, watches, or with whom your neighbor has sex? And what business is it of yours what your neighbor does with other consenting adults behind closed doors? IMO, conservatives embrace a live and let live attitude until you get to the religious conservatives who want government to enforce their morality on others and this isn't much different than what the left does. Part of having freedom is the opportunity to do things without others' approval or consent. Requiring consent from the government is the opposite of freedom.
