I think that they know plenty about Christianity. Just look at the response when some non-evo FReeper does something they don't like.
Not only do they rush to point out how unChristlike the behavior allegedly is, but they've been known to post Bible verses at people as well.
No, they know alright. It's the same tactic to discredit Christianity as bringing up the Inquisition and Crusades and any other perceived smear against it because of CHURCH history, which is not the same as the teachings of Jesus.
Now, mind you, while I don't agree with all that went on in the Crusades, I think that by and large, it was a very appropriate response to islamic aggression.
