Obama’s Wheel of Fortune. The president’s luck has changed — and he doesn’t seem to have noticed

Be Angry At The Sun
Robinson Jeffers

That public men publish falsehoods
Is nothing new. That America must accept
Like the historical republics corruption and empire
Has been known for years.

Be angry at the sun for setting
If these things anger you. Watch the wheel slope and turn,
They are all bound on the wheel, these people, those warriors.
This republic, Europe, Asia.

Observe them gesticulating,
Observe them going down. The gang serves lies, the passionate
Man plays his part; the cold passion for truth
Hunts in no pack.

You are not Catullus, you know,
To lampoon these crude sketches of Caesar. You are far
From Dante’s feet, but even farther from his dirty
Political hatreds.

Let boys want pleasure, and men
Struggle for power, and women perhaps for fame,
And the servile to serve a Leader and the dupes to be duped.
Yours is not theirs.

All productive Americans will soon be paying 99% of their income

for “social justice” under this runaway administration.

Reminds me immediately of the opening strains of Carmina Burana!

“Oh Fortuna
Velut Luna...”

(Oh Fortune, variable as the moon!)

And then proceeds to play the barbaric theme made famous in the movie “Jackass”! LOL

(Love it!)

"Obama should buy a vowel, "

Nahhhhhh...obama has spent ENOUGH of OUR money.

His wheel has no spaces left, except "BANKRUPT"...yet, he keeps on spinning.

He probably would want to change Vanna White's name to Vanna Black.

Thou hast resigned thyself to the sway of Fortune; thou must submit to thy mistress’s caprices.

What! art thou verily striving to stay the swing of the revolving wheel?

Oh, stupidest of mortals, if it takes to standing still, it ceases to be the wheel of Fortune.’

- Book II, Chapter I, Consolation of Philosophy

(Thought Boethius might respond to Cicero on this thread as well)

I guess Cicero gets to speak second, then, O Child of my philosophical heritage:

Vita Fortuna regitur, non Sapientia

"Life is ruled by fortune, not by wisdom"

--Cicero, Tusculanus.

“Is it the part of the police department to harass me when this city is a flagrant vice capital of the civilized world? This city is famous for its gamblers, prostitutes, exhibitionists, anti-Christs, alcoholics, sodomites, drug addicts, fetishists, onanists, pornographers, frauds, jades, litterbugs, and lesbians, all of whom are only too well protected by graft. If you have a moment, I shall endeavor to discuss the crime problem with you, but don’t make the mistake of bothering me.”

I disagree. Obama and crew definitely know things are going down the crapper. Every time something goes South, it’s the classic response, “ROAD TRIP!”

O Fortuna!

velut luna

statu variabilis,

semper crescis,

aut decrescis;

vita detestabilis

nunc obdurat

et tunc curat

ludo mentis aciem,

egestatem,

potestatem

dissolvit ut glaciem
