Side question: What is the compelling Tea Party message for these blood-sucker Americans in the thread below? "Join us, we will make you get a job and pay your fair share?"

I think our choice is bad or worse. Hold off as much as we can as long as we can for the next generation while we undo the 40 years of leftist education, or sit home "results be damned" as Eak3 says, and let the looter-train snowball.

This poll shows that a plurality of Americans like what the left is feeding them!!!

Nearly One Third of All Tax Filers Paid No Federal Income Taxes in 2007

About 46.6 Million Filers Were "Nonpayers" Due to Exemptions, Deductions, Credits

Washington, DC, December 4, 2009 -- Nearly one-third of the 143 million federal income tax returns filed in 2007 resulted in no tax payment, according to a Tax Foundation analysis of IRS data. That means the tax filers got back every dollar that had been withheld from their paychecks, and often more. Roughly 46.6 million tax returns, or 32.6 percent, are filed by such "nonpayers," people whose exemptions, deductions and credits wiped out any federal income tax due.

"In about half the cases, additional money was 'refunded' to these tax filers -- meaning they received a check from the government -- similar to welfare spending programs,"

I think the system has to come to a point where the food stamp debit cards don’t work, the SS deposits don’t happen and the checks don’t arrive in the mailbox.

SS gets means tested so that the truly disabled and poor don’t starve. Federal and state assets are sold to fund them. Government pensions need to share the same pain that private sector pensions and retirement funds face. We’re not going to stand for federal and state pensions to be guaranteed and paid for out of the taxpayers pocket while the private sector takes the hit.

Government consumption of GDP must be constitutionally limited to stay under 10% with no off the books accounting.

Socialism truly will be misery for all. It will be painful to pick up the pieces.

The Fairtax would light a rocket under our economy and alleviate a large part of the pain.

RE :”Side question: What is the compelling Tea Party message for these blood-sucker Americans in the thread below? “Join us, we will make you get a job and pay your fair share?

Obama called them ‘middle class hard working taxpayers’ to get their votes. Democrats learned from SS and Medicare, people will demand welfare if convinced they are owed it.

Three things 'together' helped democrats solidify the idea that these voters are owed by government :1) tax cuts that they didn't get, or were small ,(dont pay taxes) 2) Iraq war and reconstruction costs and military spending, contracts, and 3) Bailouts of banks. Now much of the public asks, “All this money spent ... where's mine?”. #3 was the killer. Bushbots never seem to understand how bad #3 looked.

Note that GWB Medicare Drugs and No Child bought republicans exactly one election, 2004. Republicans still ended up being seen as helping the rich, the corporations, Wall street, ....

I have raised a similar point many many times how republicans can handle these folks without a repeat. Until this question can be answered I don't understand why republicans should be in the majority again. Right now republicans are defending medicare. Yikes, They are good at opposition, in the minority.

Why is no one screaming about “welfare” to the “too big to fail” corporations? I rather give breaks to low-paid American workers than rich fat cats on Wall Street.
