Long answer short, then: so long as they bear the requisite capital "R" next to their names on the voting ballot, they get your vote automatically, regardless of the demonstrably liberal nature of any position(s) held. If, hypothetically, Nancy Pelosi were to run as an "R" in your district tomorrow, your immediate, Pavlovian response would be to vote for her versus, oh, say, a pro-life Blue Dog Democrat. Gotcha. Yikes.

God, these "follow the losing status quo template" GOP for the sake of the party label fear mongers are tiresome.
