Oh, I am. I wouldn't trade my 13 years in Navy blue for anything. Strange how you miss it as you grow older.

What I earned is not much, but it is by God MINE.

I also refuse to make it out to be more than it was. Those who justly earn those little bits of medal and cloth have every right to be pissed at those who don't.

For any UK commentors who feel he did nothing wrong, think again. He is taking Valor that belongs to someone else and cheapening the very medals he displays, as well as the sacrifices of many Brave people from both of our countries.

After so much denigration of our service in Viet Nam, I vividly recall many in the 1980’s who never served claim they were “war heroes” to gain sympathy, recognition and even government Veterans benefits they were not entitled to.

He deserves no sympathy and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of their laws if he cannot documement any awards. That cry of secrecy acts prevents him from discussing the medals is hogwash and the first sign of a phony.

Regrettably, sometimes the 'blanket' awards have unintended consequences. During Panama, the host air wing at the base I was stationed at was issued the USAF Outstanding Unit Award w/ Valor for actions during combat. However somehow it was coded to all members assigned to the base. I was assigned to a tenant unit (different command) and had nothing to do with the host air wings mission. I only found this out when I did a review of my records, and the people at the awards/decorations office thought I'd lost my marbles when I told then I did want it because I didn't earn it.
