According to Steve Milloy (junkscience.com), the emails weren’t stolen; they were put on a public server by mistake, in response to a UK FOIA request. Naturally, somebody accessed them and publicized them. There was no hacking.

The Washington Post article is all over the map. It addresses fraud, but kind of winks at it as if it really didn’t mean anything. And of course, that fraud can’t change the fact that global warming is real. Oh really?

This particular comment, “These are the facts: After an increase in 1998, the world has been historically warm, but its average temperatures have not climbed steadily. Does that mean climate change has stopped?” is not true to my knowledge. It’s been claimed by the more activist of leftists, but temperatures do not indicate the planet is historically warm.

Then there’s this gem, [The diversity of opinion on this topic, however, wasn’t evident late last month, when a group of 26 climate researchers issued a report called “The Copenhagen Diagnosis,” summarizing scientific advances since the last major U.N. climate report in 2007. “Has global warming recently slowed down or paused?” the report said. “No.”]

Any group of scientists can issue a report that says anything they feel like reporting. It doesn’t make it true, and even if true, it doesn’t mean it is not misleading.

If the planet is warming by natural causes, what is man’s obligation, or even his capacity to stop it? Oh who cares, let’s just pass devastating Cap and Trade legislation, that will encumber nations like the United States.

It must be a good idea, because so many people who want to control every aspect of our lives say so.

Gray Lady down... and she can’t get up.

This isn’t just another propagandist’s puff piece seemingly dedicated to mother Gaia. It’s a pooper scooper following along behind Al Gore.

This will be the turning point....since they now say it’s ok to talk about it the other clones will line up

The real news isn’t what they reported, its THAT the reported it and on the front page. As Wardaddy just said, now that Wapo has done so, all the other clones will feel free to follow suit. And some of the others may give a fairer take. Look at it as a canary in the coal mine.

The Washington Post is one of the few news outlets left in the US that are considered “elite” media. They are the preeminent paper in DC and have been responsible for breaking some of the biggest stories in our nations history; Watergate being one of them.

The Post has their informants in the Gov and is one of the first publications a politician will go on record with, or off record. Given their close relationship with so many politicians, they’ve been known to cover for the ones they like and will target those who have fallen out of favor. In a somewhat humorous way, you can learn more about what is going on in DC by reading their style section than the front page.

They report with a slant to the left which has become much more obvious over the last 10 years. Rarely did they report faltering stories on Bush43, but did tend to love Laura. When it comes to Obama they not only drank the kool-aide, they’re wallowing in it.

The Post has had and continues to employ Pulitzer winning reporters and other well know, highly respected in their field, journalists. Helen Thomas being one you probably have heard of.

The Post will slant a story only so much, but if here is overwhelming evidence to the contrary or they are being scooped by others in the media they will bring their reporting back to center if not even slightly to the right.

Sorry about the long explanation but it’s needed to understand the influence the Washington Post has inside and outside of the Beltway.

That’s an interesting take on it, and it may be true. I still lean toward the thought that it will be covered, but with a vent toward exonerating the folks who think the world is about to end.

I don’t think as optimistically that this is any kind of opening.

I view this WaPo exercise as a ruse to say the issue was vented and debated, case closed.

The message here is:

“Ok. let’s have a debate. The high priests have said such and such is such, that so-and-so is a crank and that use of your lawn mower as well as your barbecue has no ‘statistical significance’ to the greater purpose that they are structuring control of the world for, and for which you readers are too dimwitted and stee-upid to comprehend....therefore, the high priests swatted away these irritating gnats of insignificance justifiably so, although as objective WaPo journalists that we are, we would suggest that perhaps they should treat the offending gnats more lightly in the future”.

In the broader war strategy, these are minor skirmishes. MRC et al. cannot control the dialog in these press outlets. All they can hope for is that enough people read the internet news and at least see the commentary found at the end of many articles. The good news is that yes, more and more people are opting to read news from the internet and that fact must irk the Left.

There was an article printed two weeks back describing a minister as being outraged by Obama’s schedule because of what I described. He wanted Obama to change his schedule to be present at the end of the summit. Obama did.

Right. Obama's change in schedule had nothing to do with climategate which I doubt he knows or cares much about. Obama wanted to go first and appear like he was leading the world and then they go off and finish their work and report back to the Fuhrer. They didn't buy it.

"In e-mails, science of warming is hot debate."

Uh no... the debate is over. It's settled - - "global warming" was a fraud all along.

WAPO doing this is either..

A:a pre-cover up piece to be followed by a piece to explain the emails away as to play both sides.
or
B: The other shoe is about to drop and the WAPO is playing cya.

In the end does any of this matter? Barry is going to get what he wants in the end.
The average American citizen is still asleep and the country is dieing more every day.

Thats a very good review of the Wapo. I’d only add that while their news sections tend to lean left, their editorial pages definitely lean right with the glaring exception of immigration issues.
