Time is running out for Iran to avoid sanctions over its nuclear program, Reuters quoted White House spokesman Robert Gibbs as saying on Thursday. He added that Teheran's deadline is still the end of the year for responding to international demands.
Iran has ignored a deal offered by the Western powers that would have Iran sending its low-enriched uranium abroad for processing into uranium for making fuel. Reuters quoted Gibbs as saying it was "pretty clear" that the Iranians were backing out of that agreement.
The White House comments came a day after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared that his country will enrich uranium to a much higher level - a fresh rejection of an international plan to curb Teheran's nuclear program.
"I declare here that with the grace of God, the Iranian nation will produce 20 percent fuel and anything it needs itself," Ahmadinejad told a cheering crowd in the central city of Isfahan on Wednesday.
Iran denies any interest in developing nuclear arms, and Ahmadinejad's speech made no suggestion the Islamic republic was planning to turn its enriched uranium stockpile into material that could be used in nuclear warheads.

Iran has one month to respond, and then they’ll be given another month to respond (and another and another etc. etc. ad infinitum). Nothing will be done until a nuclear explosion occurs.

Our and the EU dealings with Iran are like the Monty Python skit - “talk, or else you will get... THE COMFY CHAIR!”
He might call a press conference and let them know The Messiah is mad and they're no longer welcome to come over for a beer. Or maybe ratchet it up to a town hall. They better not make him really mad or he might even call for a Security Council meeting where China and Russia can veto yet another set of sanctions.

Ohhhh...we’ll ask the United Nations to issue a sternly-worded letter telling the Iranians just how disappointed we all are in them and how they need to behave much, much better in the future if they ever hope to head up the UN’s Human Rights Commission, just like Libya.
This is pathetic. Seven years this has been going on. I wish Israel would just get it over with already. It’s a joke to suggest that sanctions will bring these little jerks to the table. They’ll gladly let their people starve before they give in. It won’t be long before they have their nuke.

After one month we do nothing, the same thing were doing now, and will keep on doing until we witness our own destruction, there is no escaping it, no stopping, it will happen, as sure as the sun is coming up tomorrow.
In case they haven’t been paying attention, the Iranians have already responded. They are building another 10 processing plants.
