When I saw “390lbs” in the article, my first thought was that they were talking about the first lady...
They let people skateboard in the White House?
I like Reagan’s tree the best. It looks like a beautiful green Christmas tree with old fashioned decorations. Warm and inviting like the Reagans.
My observations...
1. At the tree lighting, the outside tree was crooked; oddly, it leaned to the right?!
2. The theme is rejoice and renewal? I am not finding much to rejoice about with this bunch in washington and I won’t feel renewal till next November.
3. It all seems so very ostentatious! So out of place. How much more appropriate it would have been to have considered the state of the country, flyover USA where folks are struggling....
“That red tree in the green room looks bad.”
I think so too, tacky!
The House is, ahem, taupe.
I have a feeling that “that’s racist” kid will make an appearance.
I was disappointed but not surprised that BO did not say Merry Christmas when the lights on the tree were turned on. Guess there is no accounting for taste, but all that gold on that tree is just a bit too much bling for me. Think my departed mom would make some comment about their being an absence of quiet elegance in the room.
“This is frankly what I expected. Some people will spend all of their money on trappings, like great clothes, beautiful cars, makeovers etc, and neglect the important things like thrift and modesty, this is the -0-bamas. It would be wonderful if they spent their own money decorating, but I am sure it is taxpayer dollars, like everything else they do, it is at the expense of another.”
You’re kidding right? There are many things for which to fault the Obamas, but to criticize them for decorating the public rooms of the White House at Christmas is just silly. You do know of course that this is a yearly tradition and as such the expense incurred is not the responsibility of the First Family, whomever they might be. I can’t believe that you never saw the wonderful Barneycam videos that showed Barney (the Bushs’ Scottish Terrier) cavorting among the Bush White House decorations. They were great.
Here’s a very good one.
Also, here’s an article that gives a little history of White House decorating at this time of year. It’s rather interesting.

That’s ghetto gold, don’tcha know!
I heard on Michael mMdved's radio show this week that the 0bamas had requested that the handmade decorations created by Children in classrooms across the us were NOT to have a religious theme.
The Alliance Defense Fund reported that they had been contacted about this and that the issue of First Amendment Rights was raised and the request was withdrawn.
Brilliant!
I wonder if there are marzipan replica’s of the First Doggie’s poo?
precious...
& very thoughtful of Osama to bring a gift. Myrrh, no doubt.
It’s nice to see Michelle’s Copenhage Go for the Gold Dress has been put to such good use.
Now would be the time to “ho, ho, ho,” eh?
