A tattoo that passed muster when Kayla Bresnan was sworn into the U.S. Air Force in April might now keep her from service thanks to a rule quietly implemented last week.

“On Monday, the day before she was to ship out to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio for basic training, she was told by an Air Force official that the 3-inch-by-3-inch theatrical mask on her “saluting arm” is no longer acceptable. “

Changing rules in the middle of the game complicates matters.

I have several tattoos however I know now that they are unacceptable to many places and people so I have to bear through and “go with the flow” so to speak.

This may be part of an AF realignment (finding a reason to turn some away). An Air Force Junior Officer I work with said the AF is offering incentives to leave prior to the completion of their agreed upon obligation.
