Haha.

This is just the type of amendment that’ll tear the Democrat caucus apart. The feminists won’t vote for it with the amendment ... the pro-life Democrats won’t vote for it without the amendment. Let them tear the bill apart themselves. Blow the sucker up.

I don’t think the Dems will let the opportunity go by to pass the social health care. They will reconvene their generals to find a way to slip the abortion funding in through some other bill or some other trick.

As mentioned upthread, it’s a fig leaf. Reid will allow those endangered ‘10 incumbent Senate candidates who need to vote for the amendment. The ultimate goal is to get a national healthcare package, even if it has “offensive’ amendments, like Stupek or Nelson propose. They will plan to take it out down the line after the primary goal is achieved and national healthcare established.
