Canopies are generally clear, and whatever that is shows no sign whatsoever of transparency. I think it’s just part of the air inlet.

Could be it's only transparent from the inside...or the inside is one big HUD

That seems to match up well with the picture.

They are sitting in the hangers at Tonopah today. Retired.

When the Yugos shot one down, the myth went down with it.

F-117 is still doing its thing.

They're mostly* retired, replaced (49th Wing, Holloman AFB) by the F-22A. Took them out to their former 37TFW hangars at Tonopah, removed their wings and put them into deep storage.

(*except for this very unlucky fellow that was cut up to test disposal techniques):

Thanks for the ping. I’m not sure what it is, but it’s pretty obviously a UAV and probably not a prototype.

But this is what Obama would fund.

It's all the Air Force could afford. The rest of the money went to ca$h giveaways in Detroit.

That sucks. I remember the first time I saw one live. I was stationed at Davis Monthan in AZ, and we had one come in for a static display for an open base/air show day. I think it was 1992 (maybe '93).

It was cool to watch the approach. I was right next to the runway. It flew in, about 300-400 feet up, followed the runway, then banked left over my head and went back around to land. Didn't hear a thing until it was past me, but we knew it was coming in and were waiting for it.
