Nationalists (conservatives) won 252 mayors and 46 liberals The Liberal Party won only one municipality in La Paz while 16 controlled National Party. Were pending two.
Between 70 and 73 MPs are believed to belong to the National Party, enough to dispense with the alliance with the Christian Democratic party that has been used to ally with the party in power, supposedly to "contribute to good governance."
First it was with the National Party, during the government of Ricardo Maduro, later negotiated with the Liberal Party, following elections won by the political institute in 2005. How are the results, and although the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) still does not give the first official report on trends in the level of deputies and mayors, nationalists will consider that a significant number of deputies.
Also give the luxury of controlling bloc in Parliament (Parlacen) where, of 20 deputies, will probably gain about a dozen lawmakers are chosen because they agree with the results of the presidential level.
Presidents
That level, according to the latest calculation of the TSE, threw for a liberal presidential candidate, Elvin Santos, 639.481 against 937, 006 of nationalist Porfirio Lobo Sosa. This represented a difference of 297, 525 votes, the largest of all electoral processes.
I’m assuming this was a good thing?
55% of the congress, that’s good.
of course.
“......Im assuming this was a good thing?......”
Not good for Obama, Chavez, Hillary, State Dept, Castro
bump now
ping later
A good thing it is!
I’m happy for the humble little nation. We could take a few lessons from them.
Thanks for the update. Looks like Marxism(and Obaba) lost big time!
Not familiar with your government structure and political party names and ideology - but I’m assuming this is a good thing? A very good thing??
Honduras has 1 chamber for parliament, the congress. having 55% of the congress gives us automatically the majority to pass laws.
Nothing like a near (liberty) death to focus the mind.
I went to Honduras with www.honduras100.org and helped build a small Assembly of God church in Sante Fe. It is a tiny village on the coast near Colon. We stayed in the Christopher Columbus Resort Hotel. We did not suffer much on this missions trip! Beautiful country and great sites to see.
The people were wonderful; hardworking and friendly.
How long will it be until Hussein accuses the “Conservatives” of election fraud, demands the OAS refuse to recognize the results and once again stops all aid to Honduras?
now how will the Brazillians get that clown out of their basement?
GOD BLESS YOU AND THE FREE PEOPLE OF HONDURAS!!!
I am very likely considering traveling there on vacation in the near future. Any country that values and fights for freedom is the place I want to go!
