Police surround Seattle home where person of interest in police shooting may be hiding A SWAT team and police negotiators surrounded a Leschi home in Seattle where the man sought for questioning in the Lakewood police shooting may be hiding. By Seattle Times staff A SWAT team and police negotiators surrounded a Leschi home in Seattle where the man sought for questioning in the Lakewood police shooting may be hiding. Police responded to the home at East Yesler Way and 32nd Avenue South where police stopped a woman who was leaving the home. She told them Maurice Clemmons was on the property and bleeding, according to a law enforcement source. The woman told police that someone had dropped Clemmons off at the home. The source also said police had received tips about two other properties they needed to search, in Queen Anne and Renton. At 8:44 p.m., Seattle police received information that the person of interest may be in a Leschi home, according to Seattle police spokesman Jeff Kappel. Police are now trying to confirm the identity of the person inside. Police blocked off the street at East Yesler and 30th Avenue South. Police are telling residents to stay indoors and keep their doors locked.

On another thread it is reported that the scum snuck up from behind while the cop was doing the routine paperwork on an empty stolen car! He saw movement behind him, got out of his squad car and saw a guy walking along the street towards his driver side door.
He recognized the scum and told him to stop and raise his hands. He did not stop (meaning to me he kept walking towards the cop) and reached for his waist. Several shots were fired by the cop, and two hit the scum. He was alive for awhile and they called an aid car.

Wow. That article scared me. The officer was doing paper work. Good thing he spotted Clemmons.
Yeah, I read that. I also noticed one of the Seattle papers had a lede that said he was shot while he was fleeing. They’re already trying to gin something up. After he went down, a bunch of people stuck their heads out of the house behind him, and there was concern that they may have been his buddies, so they were going to move him up the street to the ambulance. Don’t know whether that ever actually occurred before he was treated.
The guy was on a real streak. Stuffed with cotton balls, bandaged with duct tape, and he stole a car whose owner rarely used it because it wasn’t reliable. Pretty sad-sack ending.
Oh - and thanks for those scanner links! Yeah, the cops were real concerned about the nearby house with doors open, etc. Probably is pretty typical to have looky-loos after guns are fired, but their awareness was real high.
But, the scum WAS out of the car, who’s to say he wasn’t at that house getting some help to fix it? Saw the cop car outside, and tried to bag #5.
NEW: Police: Officer fired gun after suspect approached and reached toward waist
On another note I was going to share this from the same link -
"The people accused of trying to help Clemmons provided medical aid, housing, a cell phone and money and were trying to get him out of the state, Troyer said. They also called in false leads to police to divert investigators, Troyer said.
"They're going to pay for it," he said. "They're guests of ours."
Troyer did not identify the suspects but said authorities expected to make more arrests Tuesday.
I should give credit to that newspaper Twitter link that was posted somewhere up the thread. They put the audio up.
The details will finally get settled at some point. One version of the story is that a location they were watching is right nearby. Another possibility is that he stole a lousy car and was out looking for a better one to steal. The spot where he stopped was next to a vacant lot. Or there’s your bait theory. Bottom line is, if he’d just walked away, they’d have still been looking for him. He was either looking to add a notch, or figured he’d been found when he hadn’t.
"At the time of his arrest, he allegedly made "religiously-themed comments, told the officer President Obama and Lebron James are his brothers, Oprah (Winfrey) is his sister and referred to himself as 'the beast,'" the report states.
Who is Lebron James?
His getaway driver probably qualifies as a co-conspirator, which means he’ll go on trial for four counts of murder. The rest of them are accessories after the fact. They’ll do serious time, too. Hope they’re pretty agile, they’ll need it to dodge all those books that are about to be thrown at them.
He makes reference to Lebron James on his twitter page.
There’s a basketball player with that name, first black man to appear on the cover of Vogue.
Wait, wait, wait. That’s Bishop Jordan he’s raving about on twitter.
One article I posted from recently said Clemmons referred to himself as the Beast.
Hi,ya’ll,,,just catchin up,,,
I’m glad he was taken out by LEO before he killed again,,,
His “peeps” are all going down hard for helping him,,,
Great Team Effort my FRiends...
Hi bac’at’cha. I’m playing catch up too.
Glad the piece of meat is cold.
My thoughts are with the cop that took aim...and the families and friends of those who paid the ultimate price two days ago.
"The Pierce County sheriff's department says Lakewood police Officer Greg Richards was the one who fought with and wounded Maurice Clemmons."
"Greg Richards asked to speak first when kin gathered around the holiday feast Thursday to talk about their blessings.
He couldnt wait to say how thankful he was for his family, sister-in-law Melanie Burwell said Monday.
Tina Griswold wasnt scheduled to work Sunday, but took an overtime shift. Police work was what she loved, said her sister, Tiffiny Ryan, whose worst nightmare came true with Griswolds death.
More than 5,000 people joined the Support Officer Mark Renninger Facebook page in just over 24 hours. Many spoke of the slain sergeants leadership. Of strength and honor. Of family. Even of his Philly-style accent.
Ronnie Owens was most definitely a good troop, Washington State Patrol Chief John R. Batiste said of the man who spent seven years of his police career as a state trooper.
Each of the four Lakewood police officers shot to death in a Parkland coffee shop Sunday was deeply devoted to several families. Immediate: spouses, children, parents, siblings. Professional: brothers and sisters in the law enforcement community. Civic: the members of their communities, those they swore to protect.
Their families, friends and co-workers want you to celebrate their lives, even through the sting of their loss. (MORE AT THE LINK ABOUT THEM)
Thanks, MarMema. I figured we’d learn the identity of the fourth officer. May God forever hold dear all four officers.
We’ll all sleep soundly tonight, but I’m still awfully sad. This remains heartbreaking.
Got some pics of the procession of the bodies from the ME office to the funeral home and I want to post them, but I am unsure where to do it....hmmmm.
