“Dollar coins don’t work for general circulation, it’s been proven time after time.”
I travel on business quite often to Canada. I gotta tell you, I really like using the one and two dollar coins they have up there. They just seem much more convenient and easier to use than paper money. But to make it work, the government of Canada phased out the paper versions.
Dollar coins dont work for general circulation, its been proven time after time.
Considering a dollar buys about what a dime did when I was a kid, it’s not an economic issue.
I’m about done with pennies. I’ll never carry enough to buy anything, they can’t get you a Coke out of the vending machine and they weigh a ton when you’re carrying them to the bank.
If it wouln’t cost a bazzion bucks to change out the vending and coin counting infrastructure, I would say get rid of the penny, make the nickle penny sized, get rid of the dime, make the quarter nickle sized, make the dollar quarter sized and a 5 dollar coin the sized of the half dollar.
You could give a kid a coin to go down to the store and have them bring change back, that is until Obama is done, then we’ll be talking about the 20 dollar coin!
