What are the principles of conservatism, as people in this thread see them? What are your non-negotiables? If we’re going to have a “conservative movement”, then best to define what makes a person conservative!
After all, we have some screaming for no compromise, yet Reagan was a proponent of compromise.
Some hold up Sarah Palin as the best example of conservatism today, and others here discount her because she “compromised” and ran with McCain.
Some tout Ron Paul as the ultimate example of conservatism, others mock him for his lack of common sense regarding national defense.
So if we cannot even agree on what defines a conservative, it’s kind of hard to establish a movement! So what are the main principles of conservatism?
How about adherence to the Constitution for starters?
You know, Life, (including the unborn,), Liberty, Pursuit of Happiness?
How about the Rights in the Bill of Rights without adding “rights” that don’t exist?
How about getting the government AND the unions out of our childrens’ classrooms?
How about freedom from being taxed to death...and beyond?
