So it seems. Right about the same time my father’s ex-wife died of cancer, her younger sister also died of a similar ailment, so the poor mother lost both her daughters. She never attended the funerals, as far as I know, because I think she was no longer mentally sound. My father doesn’t get to see his grandchildren much, about once a year, since my half-sister refuses to ever visit us in Tennessee. I’ve never seen either my (half)niece or nephew.

I'll never understand this kind of stuff. I have a brother who introduced himself to my friends as my half-brother. I gasped and asked him which half was missing. He never said it again.
