The NRCC had nothing to do with this. She was appointed by the eleven county chairs from the district. The chairs were appointed by Republicans in the district.
That's what I've been saying over and over on this thread. The blame for this belongs with the grassroots Republicans in the district who selected those eleven county chairs.
Wherever the blame lies, it also lies with those, including those on this thread, this forum, who have publicly stated they would vote for any Republican, including Scozzafava, even though there was a viable Conservative also running. If you're so intent on laying blame, be inclusive.
It is an indisputable fact that Scozzafava gained more votes than Hoffman lost by. Had he been made the GOP candidate as he asked to be, he could have won that election. And had Gingrich backed off his backing of her and given his support to Hoffman, she may not have gained as many votes as she had, and Hoffman may yet have won.
The simple fact is, this is a testament to the stupidity of a GOP only mentality. When conservatives run, they can win if given the support they deserve. But when a self-righteous GOP ignores good, solid conservatives, they lose. We all lose.
Do you happen to have the names of those Republicans and/or a link? I couldn’t find anything.
