Republicans In Name Only" are conservatives (and libertarians). The GOP has never been conservative and never will be. There were insurgencies and conservative figureheads in, oh ... '64-'66 / '78-'82 / '94-'96. But, they always failed and always will. The party is controlled by party hacks and now, neocons. It's a fundamental flaw with democracy.
If you are a true conservative, save yourself the anguish. The GOP is not your salvation. Find solace in your values and family and what few freedoms still (temporarily) remain.
