The first and most important issue is Life. Must be pro-life. They could score 100% on every other scale, but if they’ve got life wrong, then they are a clandestine Rino or a Rino-in-the-making.

Exactly!

For almost 37 years an INNOCENT AMERICAN BABY has been murdered EVERY 24 SECONDS. It is impossible to support this and maintain moral authority.

And it is not just a moral issue. In murdering over 50 MILLION AMERICANS we have created a fiscal crisis that is only going to get worse. These dead Americans would today be paying taxes (including Social Security), hold jobs and buying goods. When a society fails to reproduce at consistent rates or something else happens that kills off a large portion of the population (like what happened to Europe with the Black Death in the mid-14th Century) there are ALWAYS consequences and the more dramatic the "population hiccup" the more dramatic the consequences. Since 1973 over 25% of pregnancies have ended in abortion.

My own rule is very simple: 1) support the most conservative & freedom loving candidate; 2) in the general election, support the candidate with the best chance of defeating 0bama.

There is nothing worse than Obama.

Yes there is. People who wear an "R" and don't mean.

Scuzzyfava
Olympia Snowe.
Arlen Specter

Specter is so without convictions that even the Dems don't really want him.

Hey 1010RD,

Yes, we could eliminate the deficit in less than a decade, and eliminate the debt within our lifetime just by limiting the growth of Government. You don't even have to roll it back, just slow the growth. Time will do the rollback for you.

On the general philosophy of "no more RINOs", I hope most on this thread would heed the words of President Reagan posted right here, on FR, over 6 years ago:

"When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn't like it.

"Compromise" was a dirty word to them and they wouldn't face the fact that we couldn't get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don't get it all, some said, don't take anything.

"I'd learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: 'I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.'

"If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that's what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it.

So what is that list to grade against, how many points does a politician lose if they support limited Government, lower taxes, and gay marriage? If they support elimination of most Government departments, and also want to legalize drugs? What are the non-negotiables, and how do you score people?

The purge of 2008 was epic.

Except that it occurred in April 2007.

I figured you lacked the sophistication to understand my point.

I will try one last time on simpler terms.

Obama is becoming less of a long range threat everyday.

Why?

Because he and his team are so incompetent, their plans so over reaching and failing in popularity that they are collapsing under their own stupidity.

Obama is becomings a joke and quick. If the GOP just got out of the way and did nothing else he would fail in short order.

Yet he sees successes anyways, and that is in no small part due to the GOP, either by the actions of a few (Snowe and the like) or the inaction and incompetence of the many.

So now who is the threat? The person with the bad idea or the people who either by design or inaction failed to stop it despite it being obvious that to do so would have been fairly easy?

Now the only thing to deal with is the fact even if Obama does nothing from here on out we are still 3 years out from any meaningful leadership.

Was it 2007? Wow. Doesn’t seem that long ago. Maybe I’m confusing the Rudy purge with the Mitt one.

So, you think that if Scozzafava were President (God forbid) that she'd be traveling the world apologizing for the United States, bowing to foreign leaders, hanging or troops out to dry in Afghanistan, nationalizing car companies and banks, installing 39 unaccountable czars (some of whom are avowed Communists) and she'd betray our eastern European allies and accord Constitutional rights to terrorist, just the same as Obama?

Oh man, my thoughts exactly. RINOS need to take their posts to another website.

My own rule is very simple: 1) support the most conservative & freedom loving candidate; 2) in the general election, support the candidate with the best chance of defeating 0bama.

That's basically my approach too:

Vote offensively (for the best candidate) in the primary.

Vote defensively (for the candidate to the least damage) in the general.

IF you want to win a war, first you have to win some battles. You don't win battles by sitting out...

Are you sure you don't mean 2007?

Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?

Nope. No formal endorsements.

Why not? Because each FReeper has the right to choose who they want to support.
