I really liked Newt in the 90’s with the Contract for America. I’m just afraid he’s changed - gone native in DC.
We will see.
The GW ad with Pelousie really sickened me.
I have certainly enjoyed finding others with the same opinions. And 2010 is coming. We need to make them hear us.
Ok. You’re talking in terms of ‘conservative leaders’ here.
You’re saying he should have done his homework on Dede, assuming that he didn’t. If he already knew Dede was a leftie, Newt’s not only not a conservative leader, that would make him a despicable McCainish RINO.
On the other hand, if he didn’t know but didn’t check, Newt’s not a conservative leader, IYO. But the question is....does the latter scenario make Newt a RINO?
Just trying to figure this out. If circumstances (unknown) can turn a perfectly great conservative into a RINO that easily...I’d like to know what those circumstances are. Point being, what’s too keep ANY of the so-called “”conservatives”” from transforming into RINOs that easily and quickly, if Newt could and did?
Now I’m really worried.
More Buckeyes and bullseyes BS. Unserious, disruptive posts to change the subject. Is there a texas contingent here who just likes disrupting threads with inanities continuously? Sure looks like it.
Well, I admit to being somewhat disrespectful, but it wasn't by design; merely through frustration over a couple posters who used intimidation and condescension. I fully admit they got to me.
Newt was definitely a hero back then. He championed conservative values and basically saved us from the Clintonistas.
What worries me is twofold. First, other than one female that has YET to announce that she’s even running, we conservatives HAVE no ‘real’ conservative leaders. At least, none that I’m aware of.
Second, what’s to keep ANY (or all) of them from going native in DC? Hell, I used to think that KBHutchison was conservative too. I would have sworn that she was. But not now.
We’re in deep, deep stuff.
Freepers have been banned pulling the Reagan was a RINO crap. Beware. And if you look up thread, you’ll see my comments on Reagan.
I don’t want you to misunderstand, I loved Newt. I am deeply disappointed. What seems to happen is that people stay too long inside DC. It changes them. They lose touch with US and get cosier with THEM. Inside DC is a constant barrage of leftist crap. I sincerely believe that is what has happened.
And the RINOs have Megan McCain leading the way for them.
One disappears and another shows. Those leave and VOILA! ;-)
That’s what they came for. That is what they do all over FR. Disruptors by design. And I didn’t mean to include you at all. The diabolical duo, who I believe have other nics as well, do this on a fairly consistent basis.
It was strictly a local event.
I just threw up a little. Maybe I shouldn’t have eaten.
Welcome to the Tea Party, Xena!
Its true. She is their spoken voice as of right now. The rest of us who’ve had it with RINOs? Rush, Levin, Imgraham, Malkin, Beck, etc. They learned the same, hard lesson we did.
One is too much time at the public trough. Another is too much free association with the beltway mentality conundrum. Politicians tend to lose sight of those who sent them to Washington, coming to believe in themselves more than in their constituents. They become sanitized from public opinion, and in need of finding support for their own newly developed beliefs. And where does that come from? Why, other politicians and the media. Where else?
If you look at the GOP side of Congress, especially the Senate, you can name any number who fall into this category of RINO. That doesn't mean they started out with those beliefs, it simply means they've fallen into the beltway trap.
What do we do about it. It's called recycling. But someone like Newt, who's now out of the beltway but carries the aura, should never be part of future plans. He's shown his preferences and they're not ours.
Oh, I have some yummy chili in the crock pot if you want to replace that bad taste in your mouth.
ok
