If anyone else but Sarah Palin had been on that ticket, I would not have voted at all. Truth be told, I kept imagining a banana peel in some strategic place on a heavily waxed hallway. GOD will forgive me for that, I’m sure.
Having said that, I will never, ever do it again. And I would venture to say that a lot of people who voted for mcsnipe felt exactly the same way and are saying now exactly the same thing. Burn ALL the freaking bridges, because November was the River Kwai and we do not build bridges for our enemies never no more.

I wouldn't have stayed home, but I would have penciled in Duncan Hunter.

Same here, but only in petulance since Fred dropped out as he did. That ticked me off. If it hadn't been for the way he handled it, I'd have penciled in his name.

Obama was exposed before the election, just not fast enough...the exposure was ignored in november. People really were blind, he was dem and from chicago. That should have given everyone a clue. Being black took all focus off of hillary amongst the black voters.

I don’t see anything sad about declaring our independence from RINOs! RINOs gave us the bailouts, the takeovers, government healthcare, big spending, big government, big taxes, big treaties, loss of sovereignty, loss of security and loss of our freedom! Damn their eyes!!

It’s not settling. Once your preferred candidate doesn’t win the primary the only logical option is to back the candidate that will give you something of what you want and then work like hell twice as hard during the next primary.

You’re solution to the problem will only guarantee dim control of the levers of government for generations.

I liked Fred! I hold the GOP in highest contempt right now. They corralled an unsuspecting, unaware constituency before they had time to react and left them with a deplorable lot to choose from!

NEVER AGAIN.

I will ask you politely which of those polidiots has an established record of conservative votes ? The BEST record, over time , long term....one that makes every effort and consider that.

Stay safe !

Even before I knew anything about Obama, once I heard he was from Chicago, and was part of the political establishment there, that was enough. I didn’t need to know any more. And he’s pretty much matched my expectations.

Oh yeah, and we knew it. SOME of us were already getting the drift that this was a setup long before November. Long before the primaries were even halfway over. Like the miracle in New Hampshire that no way mcsnipe should have won.
I tried to tell people way back then, but no one would lsiten.

Sorry, Bob, I will not settle for an abortionist/socialist liberal RINO. You can take Romney or whichever RINO you’re pushing today and shove him where the sun don’t shine.

Democrats and RINOS be damned!

People should just follow up the thread to see exactly what you said before, so they can properly assess your extraordinary claim that I am "a liar".

I said:

Romney isn’t conservative enough for a solid conservative website freerepublic, but he is within the bounds of the Republican party (which, as we all know all too well, is not simply the “conservative party”).
You responded with a stupid comment about "Rino types" attacking freerepublic for not supporting candidates -- a statement that had no conceivable relationship to the comment I made, which was in no way an attack on Free Republic, but rather a correction to some stupid people who confuse "conservative" with "Republican", as you seem to have done again.

I have been quite clear to NOT attack FreeRepublic, a solid conservative web site, nor to attack the people who run the site, or their position regarding candidates they wish to support.

I'm just pointing out that FreeRepublic is not a "Republican" web site, and so the rejection of a candidate by this site does not make the candidate a "RINO", since there are a lot of republicans who are not sufficiently conservative to get the support of people here.

I supported Romney for just about 7 months, from the time in mid-2007 when it seemed clear no more conservative candidate was forthcoming (although I also supported Fred Thompson, hoping he would make a good run for it), till the time John McCain sealed the nomination and there was no point in defending Romney from inaccurate charges.

For a time afterwards, I continued to correct misinformation about Romney, but there was no "support" since he was no longer a candidate.

Since the election I haven't really cared what people wanted to say about Romney, as I see no need to prop him up for another presidential run, and therefore only rarely feel compelled to correct delusional people.

And with Romney being on the wrong side of ObamaCare (not being for it, but being insufficiently dismissive of the Mass. version), on the issue that matters I'm opposed to Romney, which tends to keep me from saying anything nice about him.

But it's a lot easier for you to simply make up dates, motivations, and charges, than to actually figure out the truth.

By following your advice in paragraph 1, we're not at the crossroads you describe in paragraph 2. That's real progress, isn't it? Sorry, but you're on a forum that doesn't drink the Kool Aid any longer.

Is it hilarious because of all the rooting for my player or team, while ignoring the game rules? Or is it hilarious because no one has a clue how to build a strategy within those rules?

I wish we had known that then.... I was still in the learning curve regarding voting for the best candidate. :-p Actually, I think we are now. The political mass (change) movement has modified the way we think forever...

In the primary, I did vote for Hunter AND he had already dropped out by the time CA got to vote. But for the general, when you've done all you can to get the conservative on the ballot, you have to make a choice. Obama looked evil then and no way would I sit at home and let him walk away with it without a fight.

And I won't next time, either.

I was behind Fred from the moment his candidacy was expected. Hunter was my second choice. The reason I picked Fred was his conservatism along with his public face recognition. That’s something Hunter didn’t have. And Hunter simply couldn’t get traction.

But Fred really disappointed me. I never drank the Kook Aid that he dropped out to give McCain the chance, but it left a bad taste in my mouth, anyway. So, I essentially bowed out...until Sarah came along. Then I jumped on the Sarah bandwagon. My Republican vote (for the presidency) was solely due to her. If she hadn’t been on the ballot I’d have written in Hunter.
