Anyone who would pay several million dollars for a villa in what looks like a crowded suburban development built on a sand pile on the edge of the desert amidst a bunch of Arab Muslims should have his head examined.

David Beckham and Brad Pitt are believed to be among the celebrities and sportsmen who bought villas in Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, a luxury development that juts out into the Gulf. But when the property bubble burst this year, residents saw the value of their investments collapse.
That's the huge artificial isthmus shaped like a palm tree. An amazing feat of engineering. But I have to say it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people.

That’s what happens when the rich and famous want to be where the actions at, what’s new and trendy - all done in their elitist fashion.

BS - the celebs and sports stars probably got the homes for free to get other suckers to buy there.

The only people I’d wish who lost their money that weren’t already in that list would be Obama and Oprah.

Actually there’s a bunch of these man-made islands developed (or in the process of being developed) in the area. One of those is supposed to be in the shape of the continents themselves called “The World”.
The general area can be found on Google Earth here:
25° 9’43.12”N
55° 3’58.63”E

Don’t they know that when global warming raises the sea level just a few feet they will all be under water?
