I have a hard time believing we are getting the whole picture here. My son spent 10 weeks in the NICU in this hospital and the doctors, nurses and other staff were the most caring, professional people I have met. I saw the heartbreak they felt from losing one of their precious patients. From my experience, I can’t believe there isn’t something else going on that we are not being told.

You know that we're not. This is an article by a pundit who is quoting the lawyers on one side of the issue. That's never a recipe for reliable information.

I can't imagine the difficulty of the parents' position -- they clearly can't imagine letting him go. Unfortunately, I suspect baby Gabriel's condition is not nearly so robust as it's portrayed here.

Me, too. What is the genetic abnormality? How is the child faring with the respirator? So the staff "discouraged" a transfer to another hospital. What does this mean? That they are kidnapping the child, or that there isn't another hospital interested and ready, and they told the family so?
