FORT BRAGG, N.C.
(Excerpt) Read more at ajc.com ...
If I were Sarah Palin, I’d just cancel the book signing at the base and go to a book store nearby. No one can muzzle her if she’s off-base.
Yep. I’m sure they had the same restrictions in effect when Barry was hawking “Dreams from My Father” at Ft. Bragg.
What you say? Barry didn’t go to Ft. Bragg to peddle the Ayers book? You mean he only appears on a military base when necessary and/or the situation presents a photo op?
I am sure someone asked.
Having lived through working with the media on some local emergency things, I can tell you they ask some off the wall questions. Sometimes on the phone, sometimes at news conferences, and sometimes they ask the same question thirty times.
Someone asked what they were going to do on the base. Its pretty simple.
So if Sarah Palin made a speech that said thank you for your service, would that be a breach of Federal Law?
Casey is an as^hole.
Ah, so, Hussein was allowed speech time but a soldier's mom can't so much as personalize a book to a soldier or pose for a picture.
The military does not work that way.
That is why only “Select” organizations are even recognized by them ... the USO, the RED CROSS ....
Others, mainly dignitaries, performers, entertainers have acces but are thoroughly vetted and have specific guidelines even in the “morale boosting” arean. The decades of Bob Hope, Ann Margaret and others that gave to the military for years .. were usually sponsored through USO.
Holding a campaign with the the intent of withholding from the press will get a base or unit commander courtmartialed faster than anything he could do militaryily.
Yes, that could be it. Thanks for the response.
I love it. If you go into PX/BX you’re hit in the face every which way you turn with Onada merchandise. I would not give you a bucket of spit for senior military leadership—or what passes for it—today.
My son’s an Army lifer. Been in over 18 years. He’s a senior NCO and has gotten fed up with Onada’s propaganda machine. He is trying to get the merchanise removed from the PX where he’s stationed. And for the same reason the Army is trying to muzzle Palin. He thinks the Onada stuff is a political statement.
This action is coming directly from the White House. Lars Larson, conservative radio host was to broadcast from the marine base where his son was graduating from until the 0 administration stopped it. The broadcasting event had been planned for months until the 0’s heard about it.
Good response.
It must be a pretty touchy time on military bases these days if discipline and morale is so low they have to fear the appearance of a single person will disrupt their operation.
Sad, sad.
My guess is that the high level brass and CiC are both worried about dissension in the ranks. The dissension is bad for the military and their mission, regardless of party affiliation, and in that regard I understand the decision, even if I disagree with it. But the decision speaks volumes about the lack of support for 0bama within our military.
From obama to Casey to Gov. Palin’s ear. What insanity.
Of course it is a shameless effort to influence service people and it IS a political statment.
As yourself what would have happened if “W” pulled a stunt like that!
Sarah’s respect for the military and the sacrifices they make ensures she’ll respect their wishes. If she gave a speech off-base the news would carry it and the troops could watch it on television.
SOA: We must accept the Enemy within our ranks. for diversity,
even as they slaughter our troops. However, that only extends to Islamic murderers.
Such diversity inclusion would never extend to a Republican or conservative Governor.
Isn’t her son in the service. Can’t she just go visit him?
But it was okay when The One did it in Iraq and Trashcanistan when he was campaigning for the election?
I have no problem if those are the rules, but why make an exception for Obama?
OFF WITH THE ARMY'S HEAD!
