Like so many parents, I have agonized over the changing political climate, the degradation of morals, and the loss of liberty that the nation has been experiencing for quite some time. Ive watched as our children have become more violent, while our educational standards plummet. And I cant seem to shake the creepy echoing in my head of children singing Obama praises to the tunes of Jesus Loves Me and The Battle Hymn of the Republic.
Look at some grade school literature like Heather Has Two Mommies, a story about Heather, a child of artificial insemination being raised by lesbian lovers. Not only is there no daddy in the story, but no male role model is present anywhere within the book. Of course, the daddy-is-not-necessary message ignores the overwhelming statistics that children who grow up in homes without a father are twice as likely to drop out of school, and multiple times more likely to commit suicide or end up in prison.
There is a lot of focus right now on restoring our country to the vision of our Founding Fathers. But taking back our country means more than taking back Congress and the presidency it means taking back our children....

Not only taking back our children but taking back our school boards and start putting demands on the schools. Pressure on the schools is key and voting out members of the school boards that are trying to change our kids.
Have you read ‘Billy gets his Gun”?
It’s about 12-year old Billy who bravely hunts down a Kenyan donkey who mysteriously appears on an American farm and destroys everything in it’s path. Eating livestock, lying to the other farm animals etc. Billy now has to shoot it to save the farm.
You’re absolutely correct! Parents MUST get far more involved int what is going on in the schools. parents ARE the primary educators and they have primary rights over what their children are taught.
Another thing, I believe the folks who produce the Patriot Post have a good thing going here:

A couple of people together could order and donate these materials to high school history and government teachers and even help them find great speakers for some of their classes!
Conservative books for children? Here are some:
“The Great Brain” series.
“A Little Princess” and anything else by Frances Hodgson Burnett
“Little Britches”
“Call it Courage”
“The Phantom Tollbooth”
Help me out here, freepers. I’m sure there are many others.
The Jack London classics are good: White Fang, Call of the Wild, etc.
I don’t know if these books can be considered “conservative” books, but they’re all good, classic books for kids:
“Wind in the Willows”, Kenneth Graham
any of the “Cat in the Hat” books, Dr. Seuss
“Black Beauty”, Anna Sewell; other books for horse-crazy kids are ones by Marguerite Henry and Walter Farley
“The Wizard of Oz”
“The Hobbit”, JRR Tolkien (I think the Rings Trilogy is too much for younger kids, but they can handle “the Hobbit” if Mom or Dad reads it to them)
the “Narnia” books, CS Lewis
Thank you for the suggestions. Please keep them coming.
I have a miserable time finding children’s book that are not either corrosive, stupid, banal, or a sign that someone needed therapy but couldn’t afford it. Some of the so-called classics haven’t worked that well for us, either.
We’ve really liked the Five Little Monkeys series (for preschool) since they’re both silly from a child’s perspective, but ultimately have good lessons and are parent-friendly and actually funny. They also make great use of predictable language, without being too predictable.
One thing I have never heard mentioned is the fact that no matter which political Party is in power neither of them will address the control of the educational system by the radical left. I wonder why?
As far as parental involvement is concerned today’s parents are the products of over forty years of the public/government educational apparatus. That means that many parents have been indoctrinated and many others, even those with high school diplomas, are functionally illiterate.
Many parents are home schooling, recognizing the danger of having their children under the influence of today’s so called educators. Significantly, Democratic Party politicians and “educators” are doing everything possible to destroy home schooling. Republicans are largely silent on the issue.
Am I allowed to mention my own books, which are young adult science fiction?
