I don’t like to say I told you so, but I’ve been saying for months now that the trick is to drag this thing across the finish line with 50.0000000000001 per cent of the vote as soon as possible. From my “Happy Warrior” column in NR back in July:

Obama believes in “the fierce urgency of now”, and fierce it is. That’s where all the poor befuddled sober centrists who can’t understand why the Democrats keep passing incoherent 1,200-page bills every week are missing the point. If “health care” were about health care, the devil would be in the details. But it’s not about health or costs or coverage; it’s about getting over the river and burning the bridge. It doesn’t matter what form of governmentalized health care gets passed as long as it passes. Once it’s in place, it will be “reformed”, endlessly, but it will never be undone.

Right now, they can trade anything - abortion, death panels, whatever. The trick is to plant the seed and let the ratchet effect of Big Government take care of the rest. I said on Rush’s show on Friday that if Barack Obama had been Bill Clinton he’d have woken up on Wednesday morning and begun triangulating. Instead, Obama woke up and figured that he needed more fierce urgency, and right now. The short-term hit in 2010 is worth it for the long-term benefits: Obscure congressmen will be just as happy as obscure ambassadors or obscure chairmen of obscure agencies. And the prize of permanent irreversible statist annexation merits the risk: Governmentalized “health care” puts us on the fast track to Euro-sclerosis and redefines the relationship between citizen and state in ways that make genuine conservative politics all but impossible.

Will the Senate stop it? And, if they don’t, will a post-2010 GOP Congress reverse it? The way they reversed, say, the federal Department of Education?

I think bottom line is King Obama threatened all of them, bribed them, and, guaranteed them their re-election by Acorn's help...so in their blind arrogance, they don't fear losing in 2010 because Obama has made them all feel insulated from the People. If we don't rise up, we're sunk. If we do, it will be Beck and others who are the antethisis of Acorn to help us get the votes to win back the country.

It makes no sense how Obama could still have credibility when he could not help a democrat get re-elected in one of the bluest states in America.

I read an excellent biography of Louisa May Alcott and the transcendentalists that went into this matter, only from the leftist perspective. But even from the other side, it somewhat explained how that whole silly movement tied into feminism and liberal politics. As ever with liberals, they loved all mankind and demanded rights for women in general, while treating their own wives shabbily.

Liberals never mean out God-given rights, they mean things like the “right” to tell others how to think, the “right” to “free” health care (which some sucker has to pay for), the “right” to jobs, etc.

Remember I said, “blind arrogance”. One thing about democrats is they believe their own lies, and most of the time, they believe they are telling the truth at the time they say it. Clinton has this trait and so do Pelosi, Reed, Obama, the list goes on.

I have no idea.

Most likely he just went home.

He is a short timer (he is retiring) and knew his vote did not matter.

He is also the typical Ohio Republican leadership, just slightly to the right of Joe Lieberman.

He may see potential in the bill.

This is an act of war they’ve declared. They have illustrated how they couldn’t care LESS what the majority of ‘We, the People’ who pay their salaries want or don’t want. These commie traitors, the enemies within, have deliberately destroyed our economy even WHILE they coddle terrorists and make it easy, ONCE AGAIN, for the enemies without to attack and destroy America. When are most Americans going to face reality? When they see the blinding flash of light? Or just before the blast incinerates them. Better late than never?

The choice is to wait for the blinding flash of light or take matters into our own hands and soon have an revolution of 100 million Armed Patriots descending on Washington D.C. It's your call America. . July 4th anyone? . or can we wait that long?

This is war. Most Americans clearly do not want this bill. Nancy Pelosi and the House Dems don’t care. Harry Reid and the Senate Demos don’t care. They and Barack Hussein Obama have in 10 months sent America trillions into debt. Their “cap and tax” will kill even more jobs. They have seized control of banks and companies. And now they are pulling off a “healthcare coup” to take over the most intimate parts of our lives and add even more trillions in debt. This is a war on the American people.

caww here and new to FR. Thank you for your imput on the status in how this bill proceeds. It's sometimes difficult to follow. You clarified some confusion.
I am registered rep. but not happy with the party at this time. But totally opposed to the demo agenda being ram-roded thru with this administration.
Have lurked on FR. several years, so glad wiser minds than mine post here. Offers those of us with lesser minds a broad range of opinions to digest so we can draw our own decisions. Thank you again.

Hello,
I am new to FR but lurked many years. Attempting to become familiar with those who are posting and noticed your name. If you wouldn’t mind me asking, are you the same Diogenesis who posted all those fabulous photos when we first went into Iraq? If so, I not only looked for these photos daily, at that time, but shared with others to look for your name to get the real story. I actually copied many and have them in a binder so that my family will have a clear record. If you are that Diogenesis..thank you oh so much. If not please accept my apology if I’m mistaken.
Thank you again. caww

You are right. We are in a Cold War with the Manchurian Candidate Obama. . Steel yourself and prepare. .

"As ever with liberals, they loved all mankind and demanded rights for women in general, while treating their own wives shabbily."

Agreed, as did Henry Beecher, who preached in favor of adultery by way of romanticism and indulged in it with another man's wife.

“You can acknowledge defeat and bend over for the statists, but I won’t.
I’ve been to the Tea Parties, and people are already making plans beyond them, because it’s obvious the Tea Parties are having negligible effect.”

When you say “I’ve been to the Tea Parties, and people are already making plans beyond them” ...what do you mean by plans beyond them?
