Liz Cheney Running for President in 2012?

When Liz Cheney said “Think Cheney 2012″ on the last FOX News Sunday with Chris Wallace – the panel in the studio and lame stream media later assumed she was talking about her father – former VP Dick Cheney. Everybody took the bait – and got caught in… sexism. She did not say “Think Dick Cheney 2012”. It never occurred to the Good Ol’ Boys in the media that Liz Cheney was hinting about a possible run of a Cheney in 2012… like in “Liz Cheney 2012″. Why not? The lady is extremely smart and has a whooping resume that tops Hillary and Sarah if you put them together. Let’s take a look at who Liz Cheney really is .

Education: Bachelor’s degree from Colorado College. Senior thesis: “The Evolution of Presidential War Powers,” in 1988. J.D. degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1996, having also taken courses in Middle Eastern history at the Oriental Institute.

Seems to me she was looking into the Presidency ever since college.

.

So what is Liz Cheney doing now, you sexists? Is she baking cookies? May be, but she also is running a non-profit 501(c)4 organization, Keep America Safe. The purpose of the group is to support and defend policies of the Bush/Cheney administration which they believe will keep America safe.

Liz Cheney threw a major trial balloon on a major political show on a major network and nobody noticed? Take the challenge you guys! “Think Cheney 2012 – Think Liz!”

I like both women and would be happy to see either one run for high office.

The Cheney family, including Liz, is Beltway establishment, as much as I admire them. Dick Cheney endorsed Kay Bailey Hutchison for TX Gov. and Liz is a Romney supporter. As Romney seems to be fading with the conservative base, Liz is being promoted.

This nation may get one more shot at the ballot box to get back on the right track....maybe. It desperately needs a charismatic leader who inspires trust, who is willing to go to the mat for the people ("Politically, if I die, I die").

It's a no-brainer for me.

Either one would be an improvement of an unspeakable magnitude over the interloper currently in office.

Liz Cheney Running for President in 2012?

Who would be her running mate? Bugs Bunny?

That picture with her appendages hanging out will sure give confidence to the public.

Rediculous

Liz Cheney has been great. I probably would like to see her run for some kind of office (although starting at the top, for prez or vp seems a bit premature; plus, her Cheney name would probably be a drag with the electorate).

Also, I’d really have to know her stand on gay marriage, owing to her family situation. That’s one thing I’ll never accept in a candidate. They can be 100% rock-solid on every fiscal/defense/whatever issue, but if they are pro- gay marriage, I’ll never give them my vote.

At best Liz is a ‘moderate’. At worst she is left of center and is, like her husband, a globalist.

I like Liz but SARAH PALIN is my candidate. If “they” convinced America that Sarah Palin did not have the experience to be POTUS, what will they do to Liz Cheney?

“her last name will just turn off independents who remember her father tied with Bush”

I agree with your analysis on Liz Cheney and her appeal to independents. But to be fair and balanced, we tend to ignore Palin’s appeal to independents which is anemic at best.

Guess you haven't seen the latest polls this week. According to Rasmussen, she's at 51/43 (Fav/Unfav) overall vs. 47/52 for Obama. Among Independents according to Fox/Opinion Dynamics this week, she's polling 15 points better than Obama among Independents -- 49/38 for Palin vs. 34/51 for Obama.

That's because the McCain campaign refused to highlight Palin's record.
Far from being a religious right-wing whack-job, her record as Governor screams putting politics aside and working with both parties. You forget that she brought down REPUBLICANS in Juneau. That appeals well to independents.

Pretty presumptuous of you to say “you forget”. I actually think that point was hammered home pretty consistently and when McCain picked her, with him actually saying that was the reason she was so appealing. The narrative about her being a religious nut-job was insinuated by the mainstream media and the liberal press and blogosphere ran wild with it.

No more Clintons, Bushes, Romneys, Cheneys.

In Illinois, no more Ryans (related to George or not)

The one silver lining in this election was that there wasn’t a recycled name or incumbent on either party ticket. We hadn’t had that since Ike vs. Stevenson in ‘52.

THe Republican bench got pretty stale. The one good thing McCain did was get Sarah more credentialed.

Not so. Palin's favorable/unfavorable among independents is 49/38. By contrast, both Romney and Huckabee are in 30/25 territory.

For comparison, Palin's fav/unfav among Republicans was 71/20. But, among Democrats, it was 25/62. Notably, Romney and Huckabee were both around 25/25 with Democrats -- failing to stir any particular hatred.

But Sarah really got their blood boiling...

You can drop Cheney from that list.

Perhaps she should get herself elected to some other office, first.

You know - prove she has vote-getting power.
