I’ve always heard that Jane Fonda was never charged or faced any consequence because her father, Henry Fonda, was a loyal, financially supporting, Republican.

Does anyne know if here is any truth to that rumor?

Jane Fonda wasn't the only one undermining US troops and aiding the enemy. Many were in lockstep with her in supporting the communists, and yet they didn't suffer for it either. I doubt they all had loyal Republican fathers to get them off.

I’d read once that he was a Democrat, but a patriotic one, the kind we used to have a lot of! He and Jimmy Stewart were really good friends, and J.S. was a Repub., they got along famously!
