Then her attorneys should revisit the release that was signed and speak with the attorneys at Runner's World if they allowed Newsweek to use it in contravention to any language used in the release. Though a standard release would allow Runner's World to use it as they see fit.

All that notwithstanding...Newsweek putting it on their cover is very bad form and their intent is clear.
