A DEADLY plague could sweep across Europe, doctors fear, after an outbreak of a virus in Ukraine plunged the country and its neighbours into a state of panic. A cocktail of three flu viruses are reported to have mutated into a single pneumonic plague, which it is believed may be far more dangerous than swine flu. The death toll has reached 189 and more than 1 million people have been infected, most of them in the nine regions of Western Ukraine. President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko has called in the World Health Organisation and a team of nine specialists are carrying out tests in Kiev and Lviv to identify the virus. Samples have been sent to London for analysis. President Yushchenko said: People are dying. The epidemic is killing doctors. This is absolutely inconceivable in the 21st Century.

Not absolutely inconceivable.
When you 800-pound gorilla neighboring nation wishes you ill.
And ran (still runs?) one of the deadliest bio-chem weapons programs
in the history of the Earth.
And they wish you ill. (so to speak)
OH, and it is often doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers that are the
“carnaries in the coal mine” when something really nasty erupts
in terms of a biological plague.
What is it with people getting so terrified by numbers like these?
189 is a drop in the bucket compared to the population. Sheesh.
Our country has a few problems...
Too many old people...(Sucking up resources and no longer contributing.)
Too many unemployed...(Sucking up resources and no longer contributing.)
Wouldn’t it be conveeeeinent for our government if a plague wiped out 20% of our (mostly elderly) population?
Suddenly, the Social Security problem would be fixed. Unemployment would drop back into the single digits, and Obummer would look like some kind of genius.

Who is the author? Maybe it IS a FReeper... Just a thought.
