I agree that if the House refuses to exclude Owens and seat Hoffman if and when Hoffman is declared the winner by the State of New York (which, before we get ahead of ourselves, is unlikely given the size of Hoffman’s current deficit and the number of ballots that are purported to be uncounted) it would provoke such outrage that the Democrats wouldn’t be able to get anything passed in Congress over the next year and would lose dozens upon dozens of House seats (and thus their House majority) next November. That is why I do not think that the Democrats would dare not to seat Hoffman if he’s declared the winner and Owens loses all of his recounts and state-court appeals; they’d probably keep Owens seated until all of his appeals are exhausted, but they’d eventually seat Hoffman. It should be noted that when Pelosi became Speaker in January 2007 there was a Democrat from Florida claiming that she, not Republican Vern Buchanan, had won the congressional election (in typical Florida Democrat fashion, she pointed to the large number of blank ballots cast in Democrat precincts as “evidence” of the election having been stolen); Pelosi decided to avoid controversy and the Democrats seated the Republican that had been certified as the winner by the State of Florida.

Can he do that? Legally? I’ve never heard of it being done.

Seems to me that would make the healthcare vote invalid. They’d have do to it all over again. Right? Hopefully, without Cao’s YES vote.

Thanks for updating this. I sent him another contribution to help him make sure that things are on the straight and narrow. Another win there would be loveley.

I saw Hannity interview Newt on this. Newt said he had nothing to do with Dede being picked and that his job was to help whomever the GOP selected, which he did. He sounded and looked sincere and I believe him.

If this is incorrect could you provide a link otherwise, and explain why everyone is now blaming Newt (which I also did before I saw the interview), instead of the GOP. If there’s more to this story than I’m aware of, I’d appreciate the info.

What if these little communists pass their little amnesty bill before 2010? What then?

Not so. The concession is just a political formality/protocol thingy. It has no legal effect whatsoever. It might become an arguable point in a suit to undo any congressional votes Owens has made, such as the zero/pelosi deathcare bill.

There’s too many traitors in the Republican Party at this point. That’s why I keep wondering if it wouldn’t be easier and safer to just start over with a new party. How would we ever be able to weed out the traitors in time for 2010 or again for 2012? Our chances of doing so are slim and none.

OK, you pulled a quote from my post that I’d pulled from Wobbly Bob. My take is that we fight tooth and nail - always. We do need to work to bring the electoral process into a more sane, transparent place.

Has a Democrat ever lost a “recount”?

I guess they are bitter about 2000, and pretend really hard that Gore won, so now they will cheat until Jesus comes back.

Nice people.

Allow me to mock for a moment. :)

We will deal with each challenge in its turn. Except for Porkulus, they haven’t passed anything yet (TARP was passed while Bush was in office.)

Juan Williams went off on Sarah Palin on FNS yesterday, blaming her for loss of the Republican in NY-23. I’d love for Hoffman to win to see Juan eat crow.

I had the exact same thought knowing a recount was in the works. However who on FNC will remind Juan???

consevatives/Christians/pubs/good people in general think that somehow morals and ethics and fair play will get them ahead....it won’t...
the strong survive...

those that grab the golden ring win, not the ones who stay on their horsey like good little boys and girls....

pubs better come up with a strong arm strategy and reclaim the bully pulpit..

because nice never won anything in the real world...
+++++++++++++++++

There’s liberal politics.
There’s conservative politics.
There’s real world politics.

Somehow Christians and good people, as you call it, need to be involved in the process.

Would you rather that the good people just sat on the sidelines and let the strong arms rule the day? What kind of world would that be? Sounds a lot like the middle ages to me..

People don’t have to be like the RATS and the career politicos to have an impact on politics - despite your ‘nice guys finish last mantra.’

That doesn’t also mean that we don’t need strong leaders right now - because we do. Probably need HEROIC leaders right now. That’s what I’m calling for.

I guess the real lesson is that we need pubs getting the election jobs....start winning by winning locally.....
+++++++++++++++

Right and we need transparency in the election and election boards process. None of this in the trunk, nefarious rubbish that the RATs have been pulling all these years. That’s got to stop and the coming rebuke in 2010 needs to include that as a bullet point.

That’s what NY 23 and Marc Rubio’s campaign, as two examples of many are all about.

3rd parties have never worked in this country. To wit: In the history of the United States, not a single third party has come close to winning the presidency, only 7 3rd parties have even won a single state’s electoral votes and only 5 third parties have won even 10% of the vote.

Better strategy, challenge the RINOs tooth and nail at every juncture and drive the Republican party back to its conservative base.

450,00 worth...which if those right thinking people had instead gone more for Coleman, we wouldn’t have this rat stranglehold in Congress/Senate/white house...
++++++++++++++++++

I agree. But we also need to drive the RINOs away. That’s an equally important endeavor to defeating the RATs.

Yeah, I even heard Hannity today talking about how he supports the new contract with America.
++++++++++++++++

We’re all getting into that territory where we need to pick how we’re going to fight this battle. Hannity needs to be careful about Newt, who seems is on a train set for the Big Tent Rino land...

I love how the elitists want to tell us how to fight this battle. I like Armey’s approach way more than Newt’s and Michael Steele’s, as far as trying to bring some top down leadership goes.
