Prominent health economist Alain Enthoven has likened a global budget to "bombing from 35,000 feet, where you don't see the faces of the people you kill."
Listen up, there will be NO death panels ya paranoid conservatives! That supposes myriad committees of people that will decide if indiviguals live or die on a case by case basis where they'd have the power but would have to take indivigual circumstances into consideration. As this article tells it, no namby pamby panels. Nope, just centralize the power into one unelected body that can tighten the financial purse strings if your living costs too much. If you die in the process, so be it.

Direct quote from the SEIU bylaws.
We must organize unorganized Healthcare workers, extending to them the gains of unionism while securing control over the Healthcare industry.

Think about that for a while and then try to sleep.

Liberals have admitted government resources are finite. There simply isn't enough money to go around to give every one the kind of health care they expect. So some treatments simply have to go. And if they are the only ones that can work for you, then good luck. For Washington won't pay for them.

It used to be our “right” to die; the libDems would now like it to be our duty to die, except for the elite, that is.

As envisioned by the Senate Finance Committee, the commissionall 15 members appointed by the President
All this power over Americans' life and death decisions in the executive branch. Sounds fitting for a dictator.

Uhh...How many baby boomers will be entering the Medicare system in the next 10 years? When they do so, how much are they expected to contribute to the overall cost of Medicare?

This sounds suspiciously like the Oregon plan.
We have Medicare codes for every procedure, and a cost for each. We have data on how many of these procedures were paid for, and can project that forward to estimate the number of these procedures that are expected to be performed this coming year.
Now have this panel rank order these procedures by cost and efficacy, and estimate total cumulative cost for each procedure added to the list. Now decide how much you would like to spend, find the amount, and draw a line. Procedures above the line will be funded this year, procedures below this line will not.
Since Medicare is the only source of medical insurance available to the public (except for unions), non-union retired people will pay the price in pain and death in order to keep the over all cost of Medicare down.
On the other hand, Union medical plans for retirees will be subsidized.
