What do you think will be the reaction from the younger set in Japan, those who might be his fans?

I cannot say “they” in an overarching sense, because young people in Japan—like young Americans, think all kinds of differing things and are not agreement on all matters, however, the prevalent sentiment I pick up here was.... a) on the one hand, surprise and “cool!”; and then, quite clearly, on the other hand.... b) this is insincere, I don’t trust it, Obama’s up to something, guess we won the war, Emperor looks uncomfortable, etc. etc. etc.

Thank you D-fendr.
I found that on Google but it is Emperor Hirohito with President Reagan. Hirohito wasn’t such a ‘good guy’ so I didn’t use it, lol.

Outstanding! We need to keep chipping away at him and expose him as the foolish, weak (so-called) leader that he is.

Now the CHINESE are starting to get perturbed over it. Japanese internet news reports tonight, our time, that one Chinese blogger (日当午)is prominently carrying a photo of the Obama bow to the Emperor, and deeply questioning the need for such a bow in the first place. He says that it was unordinary in diplomatic protocol procedures.
He said, in the case of meeting the Pope, it is understandable in diplomatic protocol, but in the case of meeting the Emperor, it was NOT correct, "and why was it that Obama initiated such a deep, 90degree bow?"
Screen saver of the Mainland Chinese, Chinese language website today, below, from Japanese Searchina News--questioning Obama's behavior.

A commentor notes it doesn’t cut it from the Japanese point-of-view either:
Foreigners are not expected to bow, as they lack the requisite knowledge of the elaborate etiquette governing this for at least 1000 years.
This BHO bow, because of its degree of declination and the shamefully rounded back, is in Japanese eyes the bow of a crippled toilet attendant to his supreme master.
