The SU16 is not an assualt rifle, even under California law. It can be legally purchased in California without the special registration required for "assault rifles".

Then again I am originally from from New Your City where the current Mayor knows nothing about firearms ans shoots his mouth off (changing feet when he does) at every opportunity on this very subject.

They just resemble military rifles and have been demonized because they are black. True, but if you put it and a AK and a M-16 on a table and told the average person to pick it out they would not know the difference.
