RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine has cleared the way for the execution of sniper John Allen Muhammad.
Kaine denied Muhammad's clemency request Tuesday. Muhammad is scheduled to die by lethal injection Tuesday night at a Virginia prison for killing Dean Harold Meyers at a gas station during a three-week spree that left 10 people dead in 2002 across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

” hymn singing, picnics and a crowd gathered on the courthouse lawn to witness the whole affair”
I remember in England, parents would sometimes bring their kids and force them to watch, to show them what happened if they embraced a life of crime.
“unless their family chooses to to announce their hangings to the press.”
Which I doubt they would since it is considered a source of shame to have criminal in the family.
And make sure to pour pigs blood on him to drive the point home that this is what happens whne you mess with the United States.
“I’d prefer that he be given solitary confinement, for life, WITHOUT ammenities”
And supported by taxpayers for the rest of his sorry life? Bad enough they did that with the Manson Family.
“You really want to watch a man die?”
On one of my threads, I mentioned that juvanile delinquents should be forced to watch executions to scare them straight.
Burn in Hell, you terrorist bastid.
Wait, Gregory Hines is the Beltway Sniper?
Unlikely since Hines had already departed this mortal coil before the shootings.
(Those that have seen History of the World, Part I will get it.)
Ever watch the Green Mile that one scene when they guy forgot to wet the sponge on the cap I like see that happen.
Would you want any part of him implanted into you?
If I needed a transplant, it wouldn’t matter who the
donor was.
He would have a long wait outside of paradise waiting
for entry.
Not worried about hepatitis or AIDS or anything like that? He probably hasn’t been living the cleanest life possible.
That may work.
That was partly my point. As currently applied, it isn’t all that effective. After all, I think most of us would actually prefer to die in our sleep. Let people see some necks getting snapped or the firing squad at work and the deterrent effect may come back into play. Hangings and shootings are pretty memorable. It’s sort of like concealed carry laws deterring crime. Why? Potential instant death penalty, administered harshly. I guess delay is the other limiting factor. If you can’t do it quickly, it must be unpleasant when it is done. It has to instill fear through certainty and severity.
The problem I have with that in cases like this, is that I do not like giving the criminal any more press than he has had. I think he should just be swept under the carpet. To me, it seems that people that commit crimes like this, want attention. I don’t like giving them what they want.
