Here in upstate New York, “Republican” is another word for “moderate Democrat”. There are some real Republicans left, but they prefer to be called “Conservative”, “Independent” or “Libertarian”.
So the legend of the great conservative NY-23 was pure mythology, then?
The election results certainly suggest as much.
