(NECN/ABC News: Fort Hood, Tx.) Soldiers at Fort Hood military base were preparing for deployment Thursday afternoon. They were not prepared for a gunman --one of their own -- armed with two handguns, who opened fire, killing 12 and injuring 31.
The victims, most of them soldiers, were unarmed and unable to defend themselves.
The shooting finally ended when a responding police officer shot and injured the gunman rumors of other shooters kept the entire base on lockdown for several hours, including the community's nine schools.
"It's really disheartening to be, you know something's going on and you can't get to your child," said one mom.

Good grief. Is that true? How this behavior was tolerated is becoming increasingly troubling. What if a man had said, "I won't be photographed with blacks, or Latinos or even whites"? This is 2009, not 1929. Somebody in his chain-of-command has some serious explaining to do if this allegation, and several others I've seen reported are accurate.

I’ll only take this over the death penalty if he’s paralyzed from the neck down. Then he can’t commit suicide either.
If he’s paralyzed from the neck down, they can keep him on active duty and wheel him from post to post, setting him and his wheelchair out front of each main entrance for weeks on end. Just rotate him from post to post.

The problem moving forward is that we're going to be learning less about this shooter, not more. Unlike the civilian world, command can't talk about him because they risk something that is known as "Unlawful Command Influence". The military can't be seen as poisoning the jury pool, for fear of having his conviction overturned on appeal - it happens.
It's precisely why LtGen Cone wouldn't make any comments, at all, about this murdering bastard at the press conference last night. It's just too risky.
It's clear that something went horribly wrong with this young(ish) officer and people in his command are clearly derelict in their duty if these allegation are accurate, and if they were reported.
We’ll see if the paralysis is accurate, and if so, whether it’s temporary or permanent.

Amazing, you are the first I have seen to catch that, (I missed it). For God's sake these are government employees in government offices with routine discrimination classes and instructions, now it is surreal how he could have survived and been promoted, and no, that is not sarcasm.

Better yet, when Sgt Munley is out of the hospital, she should put on her dress uniform, and visis Hasan (piss be upon him) in the hospital. She could then pose for pictures with her "trophy".
Then they make enlargements, and stick them all over the room so that no matter where he turns his head, if he can, there they are, together forever in photos.

So, if they are awarded Purple Hearts, this will acknowledge that the attack was not a deranged lone gunman, but from the same enemy they fight overseas.
i have never understood why medical care is provided to violent gunmen. many $$ could be saved if we just let them bleed out. there is no point in “saving” them.
