My 3rd grader came home today, said he had a substitute teacher. He said the teacher is part Arabic and that he wrote hello and goodbye in Arabic on the chalk board, and my child was able to say it. Needless to say, I am going to have a chat that I am not sending my kid to school to learn Arabic. Am I over reacting?
“Am I over reacting?”
Not anymore.
yes.
knowing the Arabic language will be a great asset in the next generation.
Let the teacher know as well as the principal.
Yeah, possibly. Lots of Arabs are Christians who have fled persecution in Muslim dominated nations in the Middle East.
I worked with two engineers who were from Lebanon, both Christian, and a Syrian who was Christian.
If the school belongs to the government, then you're not sending your kid to school; the government is sending its kid to your home, just for nights and weekends.
Yes, dont feel bad about it given the context of what has just happened and has happened in the past. As long as it wasn’t a religious comment on the board.
If the sub had written hello and goodbye in French or Gaelic we probably wouldn’t find it alarming, unless of course those people were doing horrific murders.
So you can feel that way, but don’t let those feelings get too much of a hold on you in the case of a sub writing hi and goodbye on the board in arabic.
