You’re probably right that he’ll try that (if he survives), but he may have a harder time pulling it off than you might think.
There’s another post that says he was on the fed’s radar over some threats related to suicide bombing. So it looks to me like he may have to establish that he was a raving loon for the better part of a year, and not that he suddenly snapped today at Ft. Hood.

Not only that, but he’ll know how to fake psychosis convincingly. He’s probably already prepared for it. You watch, we’ll hear in the next few days about some “episodes of unusual behavior” and/or some “odd entries in his journals” or some such things that will later be spun as evidence of insanity at his trial.
