No. Pay attention. I'm saying that the reason radical Muslim jihadists are increasing their ranks and growing is that they control the population and the message. Of course they go through great effort to isolate and alienate other Muslims themselves because that's how they recruit them. But we help them recruit if we help them to isolate and alienate Muslims who aren't otherwise radical. Saying, "I want to deport you, discriminate against you, or even kill you, even if you've done nothing wrong and have no intention of doing anything wrong," pushes those people right into the arms of CAIR and the radicals. The way to undermine them and their message is to give Muslims alternatives and to expose them to Western culture. Maybe some will decide they no longer believe in Islam and, like Wafa Sultan, decide to fight the whole religion from the inside. Maybe some like Fathima Rifqa Bary will convert to Christianity. Maybe some, like my friend, will become libertarians and embrace a pluralistic society and treat their religion as a personal choice (that same friend's family celebrated Christmas as a secular holiday when he was a child, too). But for that to happen, they need to be engaged with the Western world, not isolated or alienated from it.

My point was that many religions have had people who murdered in the name of their religion at one point or another, in response to a claim that Islam was somehow unique in this regard. There was a time in American history when the Mormons were considered a menace (their founder was murdered by a lynch mob) and some actually did murder a group of non-Mormons and took their children. No, that's not the mainstream of the Mormon religion today because the Mormons were given incentive to change in the form of statehood for Utah.
