WASHINGTON (AP) - Officials are telling The Associated Press that AARP_the seniors' lobby_will endorse the health care overhaul bill that House Democrats are preparing to take to the floor. Officials with knowledge of the group's decision told The Associate Press on Wednesday that the senior's lobby has decided to give the $1.2 trillion measure its seal of approval. An announcement is expected Thursday. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement has not been made. The endorsement, in advance of floor votes as early as this weekend, would be a major boost for President Barack Obama's signature issue.

Rand grew up in a racially segregated America, and his values were shaped by the 1960s civil rights struggles. AARPs new CEO took over in April.
Key quote: Americans want health care reform now. We need more affordable coverage, lower drug costs and real access to long-term care. Lets make it happen.
Barry and Barry, out to screw the seniors. AARP is out to kill granny!
I don’t understand AARP’s interest in this one way or the other.
Let’s wait and see. Hasn’t this Admin falsely claimed support for their reform several times already.
Burn your AARP card.
Has nothing to do with the seniors, has everything to do with Obama and his corrupt buddies selling out seniors for their socialist ambitions.
Sirrrr prissssee, Surrr prissse, Surrr prizzze!
Wow, that was a real shocker.
I suppose that the leftists who comprise the management of AARP have decided that they are willing to lose X number of members in order to further their interests in socialism.
I wonder if they’ll still do this after seniors deserted the Dims in a big way last night.

Full House Vote On Health Reform Possible Next Week
One of Obama’s front organizations is sending out this email:
Friend —
The House’s first full vote on health reform legislation may come as early as this week. It’ll be the first time in more than 60 years that the full body votes on comprehensive reform, and we expect it to be very close.
But with just a few days before the vote, the insurance industry and their allies are putting extraordinary pressure on every representative to defeat it. We know that their expensive lobbyists will be dashing to each congressional office, attempting to twist arms. The only question is whether the phones will be ringing off the hook with constituents supporting reform while that happens.
Can you call your representative right now and tell them to vote in favor of real health insurance reform? ...The House bill incorporates the best ideas from Democrats and Republicans to guarantee security and stability for those with insurance, provide affordable options for those without — including the choice of a public insurance option — and reduce costs for families and small businesses, all while decreasing the deficit.
Many representatives are standing with the President and fighting hard for reform. They need to know that they have our thanks and our support.
And we need to remind the rest of Congress that Americans need them to rise above partisan divides and stand up to the special interests. Please call:

It’s down to the wire. Your hard work helped bring us to this historic moment. Now let’s bring it home.

This entire letter is a joke, but the words in bold are over the top. Many of the uninsured are young, who will be paying MUCH HIGHER rates than is justified for their age bracket. They will be paying for medical treatment of those that are older. It is another social security type scheme that will screw the young. That’s in addition to cutting services for everyone and killing incentive for others to be creative in the health field.
And the CBO thinks the projections that the healthcare bill, even with a built in 21% pay cut for doctors, won’t stop out of control medicare costs (ViaGM):
The bill would put into effect (or leave in effect) a number of procedures that might be difficult to maintain over a long period of time. It would leave in place the 21 percent reduction in the payment rates for physicians currently scheduled for 2010. At the same time, the bill includes a number of provisions that would constrain payment rates for other providers of Medicare services. In particular, increases in payment rates for many providers would be held below the rate of inflation (in expectation of ongoing productivity improvements in the delivery of health care). Based on the extrapolation described above, CBO expects that Medicare spending under the bill would increase at an average annual rate of roughly 6 percent during the next two decadeswell below the roughly 8 percent annual growth rate of the past two decades, despite a growing number of Medicare beneficiaries as the baby-boom generation retires.
And do you think, with a 21% pay cut, a few doctors might retire early? Who is going to treat their patients under Obamacare? This isn’t Alice in Wonderland anymore, it’s Alice in Cuba.

The way I understand it, AARP sells the type of Medicare supplemental insurance known as a medigap policy. Other groups, such as Humana, sell a type of policy known as Medicare Advantage. The proposed health care plan is apparently going to reduce payments under Medicare Advantage plans because they tend to be more expensive for the government. That reduction will make medigap plans more attractive and probably throw more business to groups like AARP.
AARP is nothing but a Democrat Party political operation to con senior citizens out of their money. Promise the senior citizens something for their membership dues (like discounts on hotel rates, insurance, etc. Note: they still have to pay for these things.) Then funnel large contributions (of membership dues) to Democrat candidates while making noises about "supporting" senior citizens. I my opinion, there are many such scams like AARP masquerading as associations, clubs etc. that exist to "help" their membership while using the funds to support Democrat Party politicians and policies.
Of course AARP would endorse this bill. The bill will bring huge windfall profits to the insurance companies. AARP sells health insurance. AARP will get a huge cash flow increase from this bill.
AARP sells insurance. Insurance companies will get huge windfall profits from this legislation.
They stand to make $500,000,000 from the decrease in Midicare reimbursements thru their “auxilliary” insurance plans.
Every time AARP send me a card, I write on it, "Take this card and shove it up your ass." I then put the card into their post paid envelope and send it back to them. So far, this has not stopped them from sending me another card every couple of months.
I threw my card in the trash.
Isn’t AARP in control of key facets of a medical accounting process used throughout the Country?
