The whole point is we got rid of that skank Scuzzy! Hoffman, an unknown conservative, albeit not a republican held it close. This was in spite of a majority of the republican's and the republican party putting all their money a resources behind a LIBERAL!
This is at the very least a good turn of events for republican's.

Getting rid of Scuzzy is good but the local GOP will not leatn from it unless they replace the whole leadership. The national party hopefully will learn to look at a canadite before the just follow the local rep.

Exactly. There were two benefits:
- GOP learned that the conservative base will not stand for "moderate" (read: liberal) nominees.
- Conservatives avoided another Arlen Specter-esque RINO. Someone who would have most certainly voted with dems on healthcare, cap and trade, etc... Owens will still support these things, but he'll do so as a democrat. This hurts the dem congress' ability to claim bi-partisan support for its insanity.
