I know this, you know this ... but some on FR do NOT live in reality ...
Newt did not cause this loss.
Some areas need conservative candidates run, other areas like NEW YORK need moderate candidates run.
Until the GOP and its supporters start laying blame where blame is due for losing elections (WITH THE MEDIA) and taking action, more of the same will continue.

Moderates are OK. Scozzafava is a liberal. She is the mainstream media/White House definition of “moderate” which is “agrees with the Democrats on almost everything”.

It is very hard to find Freepers who understand that conservatism...no matter how right is rejected by a majority of voters in liberal states. So I checked out your homepage, and found a lot of wisdom, but I am puzzled by your comment, about hating extremists, which seems at odds with your "proud fan of Barry Goldwater" statement at the top.
I'm not trying to put you on the spot, but I was hoping you could explain these 2 conflicting statements if you have the time and inclination. I ask because, to my mind, Goldwater, and his famous quote "extremism in the pursuit of liberty..." shortly after the Cuban missile crisis is arguably responsible for the worst GOP defeat in memory, which begot complete rat control of our government, which begot Johnson's "great society."
My question is sincere, and in no way intended to be insulting. Thank you in advance for your response.
