Thought I'd chime in. I've been working in Newark (biggest city in NJ, Dem stronghold) for the past 3 days, making calls, putting up signs, etc. The biggest thing going on today is no one here is going to the polls. In one polling place 49 votes were cast by 11 am, in contrast, at the same time last year, there were 378 votes cast. Unless people come out of the wood works in Newark, Christie may win this by 2-3 points regardless of Daggett. Speaking of Daggett, in my home county (Morris, Christie's base) Daggeett was the LAST name on the ballot, all the way to the right. I concur with your reader who earlier stated that he was not worried about him any more.
Update: A Hoboken reader says that he also sees good early signs for Christie:
If Hoboken is an indication, Corzine is dead. Blew right in to my voting station at 8, which is in southwest Hoboken, usually Obama central. The only guy holding a sign nearby was for the Republican candidate Brinkman—I never heard of him but he can’t be as bad as the kleptocrats running the joint now, and funnier, people were going up to him and chatting. The Zimmer guy—not so much. A few young commuting workers followed me in and it just seemed like people cared only for the mayoral race. Bottom line: apathy in Hoboken=win for Christie.

You can count your blessings. You need body armor to visit there now.
Re Patterson and Clifton NJ in toe 30’s and 60’s, if you look at the demographics now, you’ll understand how the vote falls.

That is true. Exit polling showed that Obama received 107% of the deceased vote.
Not from NJ and I haven’t been there in YEARS, but what is the treatment of absentee ballots? Anyone know what percentage of votes have already been cast? ACORN may not need the buses if they have stuffed the ballot boxes with improper absentee ballots.

The only truly good news will be Corzine’s concession speech. Until then, tons of Dem votes can arrive on wings of pixie dust.
Don’t bet on anything in Jersey. Corzine has big union and Acorn support. Dirty tricks galore. Christy, a former US Atty. may be up for the fight.
My NJ story: in the early 70s I flew into Newark to visit my uncle’s family in Northern NJ, just across the GW bridge from Manhattan. It seemed like the last several miles of approach to the airport was all over auto junk yards. I wondered what the state was all about. One of the highlights was a trip to Jahn’s for ice cream.....

In the 60s-80s, I had to take my car to the Military Ocean Terminal in Bayonne for shipment to Europe and the Middle East. Had to go through Hoboken. In both Bayonne and Hoboken there was an overwhelming sense of corruption. DO NOT RPT DO NOT leave anything in your car there if you ever expect to see it again.

There are quite a few thousand folks in a cemetery in Throg's Neck who'll end up voting for Corzine as well.

You wouldn’t recognize Hoboken now. It has been yuppified; and that is a good thing compared to what it used to be. You need to have a pretty high cash flow to live there now.
