When the housing bubble popped, the very people whose government interference in the market precipitated the crisis went ballistic, charging lack of government regulation as the culprit. The Bush administration did nothing to counter the charges, and Disidente Juan McCain joined Barney Franks’ Greek chorus in blaming capitalism itself.

So now we face the specter of an American public who believe the Franks and Pelosis and the Michael Moores. All because of lying Democrats and their weak Republican enablers.

Do you think just a little bit that Jorge pushing home ownership for all and no down payments might have just a little, little bit to do with it. You can look up the deal he and Mel made with Fannie, to make 5.5 million loans if you wish to state the true facts.

From his HUD speach:

We are here in Washington, D.C. to address problems. So I've set this goal for the country. We want 5.5 million more homeowners by 2010 -- million more minority homeowners by 2010. (Applause.) Five-and-a-half million families by 2010 will own a home. That is our goal. It is a realistic goal. But it's going to mean we're going to have to work hard to achieve the goal, all of us. And by all of us, I mean not only the federal government, but the private sector, as well.
