I don't deny that this is possibly what's going on. But the conservative source has a duty to establish its credibility in the eyes of the press. I think "blaming the MSM" is a crutch, just like the way ghetto-dwellers used to blame "The Man" for their own faults.
What's happening, I suspect, is that lazy conservative PR guys aren't making the necessary personal connections with the lazy journalists.
And the local media did cover the Tea Party on election day. I saw it myself on TV. If all we do is complain about how the local press doesn't like us, the local press will just keep on not liking us. Who is sending a "Thank you for the coverage" message to the helpful news stations? Who is saying "Hey, we met at X. If you're interested, I got another juicy story..."?
I don’t disagree with you at all. It’s extremely important to cultivate friends and sources. And we can’t accomplish that by constantly bashing them. I don’t believe there aren’t conservatives in the media, and as the Obama admin. continues with its disastrous agenda, there will be many converts.
Developing the ability to communicate with assignment editors/reporters is a critical skill set that may well have been overlooked by 912 and Teaparty organizers.
You’re probably already busy, but what you said above is an outline for what would be a powerful workshop that organizers would benefit from. I would encourage you to put one together and offer your expertise. It would be a great contribution to the future of the country.
