To be completely accurate, Pawlenty did not endorse until three days after Palin and his initial comment upon hearing about Palin's endorsement (I haven't been following it) was less than inspiring.

Pawlenty has no doubt been following the hockey prospects; I think he’d make an excellent NHL executive, as much as GWB would have been an outstanding Baseball Commissioner.

He was after Palin, but before the RNC leadership realized their mistake and everyone jumped on the bandwagon. Still puts him in line for a leadership position in my book.
