I have seen this before, and frankly it is textbook.

When the moderate Republican drops out and does not emphatically endorse the conservative candidate, her supporters largely default to the Dem candidate.

That’s going to happen. Considering how tight a race it is, that is a defining point and will almost assuredly win the race for Hoffman.

er, I meant this will almost assuredly win the race for Owens.

Sad but that’s what I think will happen.

I hope I am wrong and most of her supporters actually go Hoffman.

Did you mean Hoffman (the "conservative?), or Owens (the Democrat)?
