[NY-23] Doug Hoffman Campaign Update - October 25, 2009

Hoffman Campaign Update - October 25, 2009

Campaign Alert – 9 Days Left!

The finish line is almost in sight, so get ready to for a final push in this last week. If you are out campaigning for Doug, please send us updates that we can share. Keep the campaign highly visible so people know who the “Right” candidate is! We just got word that the NRCC plans to spend another $300,000 on ads for Dede, the RINO. Bill Owens, a Pelosi puppet has already begun ads that attack Doug personally and not on the issues – you know they are becoming desperate. We must fight back hard to show that dirty campaigning and party money cannot stop this conservative train from arriving at Victory Station on Nov. 3rd!

Attack of the Dedebots in the Battle of Tug Hill Plateau

For the past hour, Scozzafava’s total at the online poll (http://mayorgraham.blogspot.com/) has been increasing with remarkable regularity by ~10 votes/min.

They JUST DO NOT GET IT AT REPUBLICAN NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, do they?? What a lost cause. Those people are SO out of touch, it is amazing.

I found the below interesting from your link:
Doug Hoffman is depending on volunteers in the spirit of the Perot movement in a year when the major party candidates seem to be unable to draw a crowd, or stage a rally.. Hoffman will continue to be a national figure and try to reach the public through national media. In doing so he has bypassed the local media filter. His strongest region is the part of NY23 near Syracuse. Lots of conseravtive voters and no connection to either Owens or Scozzafava. That makes Madison and Oswego County Hoffman country. How he does elsewhere will hinge on local issues and loyalties as much as national angst. That could hurt. He also needs to show continued momentum in this Friday's Sienna College poll. Without Big Mo, Hoffman could fade...with it he surges.

Scozzafava took to Twitter to share news of the event:

It was great having Sen. Susan Collins and Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite in #NY23 for me today. Watch the video here: http://tinyurl.com/yf4krz3

The candidate's choice of lawmakers is interesting. Collins is one oft the most noted centrists in the Senate but Brown-Waite is a more conservative legislator.

---------Per Wiki-------- Brown-Waite won a narrow victory in November 2002 over Thurman despite the unfavorable publicity that came in October when police caught her husband, former New York state trooper Harvey Waite, stealing pro-Thurman lawn signs.

Since entering Congress, Brown-Waite has garnered a lifetime rating of 90 from the American Conservative Union. However, she has broken with her party on several occasions. She criticized George W. Bush for fielding questions from hand-picked crowds. "Let me tell you the difference between a GWB town-hall meeting — George W. Bush — and a GBW — Ginny Brown-Waite — town-hall meeting: I don't load the audience with just the choir," she once said. She was one of five Republicans who voted against a bill to give Terri Schiavo's parents the right to sue in federal court to keep her alive (Schiavo's home was located in the 5th). She is a member of Republican groups such as Christine Todd Whitman's It's My Party Too, Mike Castle's Republican Main Street Partnership, and The Wish List.

For those unfamiliar with "The Wish List" and RMSP:
The Wish List is an organization whose acronym for Women In the Senate and House. It is a political action committee devoted to electing pro-choice Republican women to the House of Representatives and Senate, The Wish List was founded in 1992. It can be considered a counterpart to two other organizations: Emily's List, whose goal is to elect pro-choice Democratic women, and the Susan B. Anthony List, whose goal is to elect pro-life women. The Wish List maintains strong alliances with other liberal Republican groups, such as The Republican Majority For Choice, It's My Party Too, and Republicans For Choice.
The Republican Main Street Partnership (RMSP) is a group of moderate members of the United States Republican Party. They tend away from the dominant social conservatism of many Republicans and towards fiscal conservatism and limited government. The group is the rough equivalent of the Blue Dog Democrats.
